18 Students of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), together with the Secretary of Party Committee of AHS Tan Yinghai and two teachers had a 10-day study tour in Australia from January 24th to February 3rd. Through this tour, students broadened their horizon and immersed themselves in Australian culture. They also show the great spirit and quality of students of AHS.
Students started their tour in Gosford, a city north of Sydney. Here they studied the English language and Australian culture following teachers of MagillLanguageSchool. They got a hang of not only the knowledge of language but also Australian history, geography and traditional customs. With the local teachers they paid a visit to the zoo and the beach. The more valuable experience is that they built up a good relationship during their home-stay with the host families. It helps students to feel the unique culture there. Before departure, they exchanged gifts. The Australian teachers and host families expressed approval of our students.
The second leg of the tour was to Sydney and Canberra. In Sydney students were attracted by the exquisite scene of Sydney Opera House, the HarborBridge and St. Maria’s Cathedral. And they all were overwhelmed by the solemnity and fascination of SydneyUniversity. In Canberra, students visited Parliament House, knowing more about Australian political system. When passing by the Chinese Embassy and seeing the fluttering national flag, all the visitors felt excited and took photos in front of the Embassy. Back to the coach, some students even sang patriotic songs, which impressed the local guide and the driver.
