In the early morning of May 22nd, we in the International Department of our high school went to Harmony Plaza. All of the students
in the International class joined in visiting the electric control room, transformer room and other facilities.First of all, we entered
the control room. The monitoring wall was divided into 12 rectangle video screens which record the Jingshi Road and Jing Qi Road's
conditions and several important live broadcasts of the checkout counters. The surveillance video is led by cables which connect together.
The staff uses the Internet for route summarization. We obtained permission to view the equipment.
The fire protection system is the most important safety device here. Each floor is surveyed and can, if received, make a fire emergency
evacuation broadcast. This is not informal because once used, staff would turn the background music off. Inside, staff can adjust the volume
to be the same as our school's broadcasts. At the same time, the computer controls all of the big mall outside broadcasts content with the
screen, captions of the LED lamp and so on.
We then visited the water purification plants. Here we observed the water, as well as the huge tank. The amount of water in the whole system
is 2.4 million liters. This requires a great amount of water pumps and power to support and guarantee the quality of water. The removal of
debris is also very important. Communication at work here is crucial, as staff have to rely on each other. We later arrived at the current control
room, where the staff affectionately explained the electrical operation of the plate and the detailed processes involved. The motherboard is very
important as it controls the electrode pipe and cable as well.
The transformer room was the last stop of this visit. They said it's necessary to apply to the government for electricity as they have rights to the land.
Electricity is very important, as without it, no work can be done. We were warned to stand outside the yellow line for security. On our left side there
were 16 rows of big air conditioning units used for high voltage distributor cooling.
This trip took three hours for us to learn about the mall's system. It really enriched our experience of social practice.
