In the afternoon, April 20, the International Course Department of High School Attached to Shandong Normail University (AHS) held the Science Fair Exhibit in the reading room of the library intended for senior 1 and 2 students.
Organized by teachers from the US partner, the activity had lasted one month, dring which students were supposed to choose from mathematics, physics, biology and chemstry one related subject that interests them or they are weak in and do the research independently or in pairs. In view of nurturing their capacity for independent research, the research subject must be decided by students themselves despite the necessity of teachers’ advice and instructions. The teachers related to the according research subjects were supposed to closely follow the four research stages of project summary worksheet, materials methods and data collection, data analysis and conclusion and display board and evaluate students’ research outcomes.
Science Fair is a science and technology exhibit universally undertaken among middle schoools in the US. Under the instruction of teachers, students conduct independent scientific research in accordance with their interest and aspiration, through which they are supposed to learn and explore medicine, engineering and other science subjects as well as experience the process of the scientific research. As a course of the Sino-American Course classes, Science Fair fairly encourages students’ independent research and functions as an extension of their study in physics, biology, chemstry, mathematics and other subjects.
