National Middle School Students’ History Comics Competition is hosted by Middle School History Teaching Garden, a professional history teaching website, combined with History Teaching in Middle Schools, a professional magazine on history teaching in middle schools. Since its foundation in 2015 the competition has undergone 2 sessions and the 3rd session has concluded its review stage. High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS), though making its very debut, presented outstanding achievements with the overall rank reaching the ninth.
Under the instructions of AHS teachers, AHS students contributed their works to the competition. Of all the entries 72 stood out, among which the entry presented by Li Xiaoyue was granted second prize and the entries by Min Xiaoshan, Wan Quanyu and Shan Wenjia were acknowledged third prize. In addition, Shen Kailin and Sun Yikun respectively won an award of encouragement. Wang Jian, an AHS history teacher, was endowed the title of Outstanding Instructor for his work on instructing his students.
Middle School Students’ History Comics Competition is organized with the intention of providing students with a space for displaying their talents and exploring their art potentials, arousing their interest in history learning, helping them transform their history learning methods, strengthening their imagination, aesthetic evaluation and practice, and enriching their school life. In the meantime the competition also functions as a resource of history courses.
Adhering to its educational philosophy of “putting students first and achieving their comprehensive development”, AHS has always been attaching importance to nurturing a school culture with characteristics of universities and undertaking positive explorations and practice. Those works presented by AHS students have well displayed their outstanding qualities. Activities like the history comics competition, Go Finding History around Us and Writing Your Family History have developed into the speciality of AHS history teaching.
