AHS Acknowledged as “Shandong Provincial Advanced Unit in Mental Health Education”

From April 11 to 13 Shandong Provincial Mental Health Education Society hosted the 2018 Academic Conference in view of promoting the continual development of students’ mental health development and actually upgrading the mental health education level in Shandong Province. Zhuang Zengchen, Director of Students’ Development Guidance Center, together with Dong Yanqiang and Yan Bingjie attended the conference.

 

Li Shouxin, Standing Director of Shandong Psychologic Society and Associate Professor of School of Psychology of Shandong Normal University, hosted the opening ceremony, following which three speeches were presented respectively by Fang Xiaoyi, Director of Developmental Psychology Research Institute of Beijing Normal University, Doctoral Supervisor and Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholar of Ministry of Education, Xu Fuzhen, Associate Professor of School of Psychology of Shandong Normal University, and Liu Dianzhi, former Dean of School of Education of Soochow University. Pan Hui, Vice President of Shandong Provincial Mental Health Education Research Association, declared the list of 2017 Advanced Unit and Advanced Individual winners, among which High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) ranked as Advanced Unit of Shandong Provincial Mental Health Education.

 

AHS Students’ Development Guidance Center has constructed a comprehensive system for students’ development and guidance through opening up courses providing guidance on academic performance, career, mental health and school life. When it comes to students’ mental health guidance, a systematic model meeting the requirements of students’ mental growth has been built up through years of efforts in forging school-based courses, theme speeches, salons and personalized consultation and a favorable circumstance has been formed for students to nurture better personalities and spiritual qualities and contribute to their comprehensive development. In view of bettering the guidance service, the center has organized head teachers to compile students’ handbooks respectively in aspects of students’ academic performance, career, mental health and school life, which have received parents’ acknowledgement. 

 

It turned out to be a valuable chance to attend the annual academic conference. As is required in “The outline of Education Guide for Primary and Secondary Schools” issued by Ministry of Education, all teachers should build up the awareness of mental health education. AHS shall advocate a system of mental health education with all teachers involved and play its exemplary role as an outstanding mental health education center to its best. In the meantime of forging a team of professional mental health educators, the role as well as the influence of teachers shall be strengthened in students’ mental health education and the awareness and capacity of teachers shall be improved. Series of theme speeches shall be continued in order to engage more teachers as well as faculty members and the circumstance and model of all-round mental health education is to be expected.
